Lenchada Tourist Camp is a simple, budget-friendly safari camp on Oloolaimutia Hills, just 2.5 km from the Masai Mara Ololaimutia gate and close to the entrance of the Masai Mara National Reserve.
The Camp can be reached either by road or by air. The distance from Nairobi to the Masai Mara is approximately 250 km. It takes around 4-5 hours by road, while flying time takes about 45 minutes. Scheduled flights land at Ol Kiombo or Keekrok airstrips. The camp fits nicely into the natural environment of the Oloolaimutia hills and offers a unique opportunity to explore the natural beauty of the Masai Mara.
Lenchada camp has two types of tents – deluxe and standard tents. These tents can be arranged in four different styles – single, double, triple, and family (sleeping a maximum of 4 guests). The maximum accommodation capacity is 60 guests in 30 permanent safari tents. The tents are basic and clean and are tastefully decorated and fitted with beds, linen, and mosquito nets. The tents have en-suite bathrooms with flush toilets, washbasins, and hot showers. The tents also have a veranda for sitting back and watching the bush. Electricity is run by a generator – morning 0600 hours – 1000 hours and evening 1900 hours – 2200 hours.
Lenchada Tourist Camp facilities include a bonfire in the evening on the lawn, which gives a great opportunity for guests to interact, know each other, and share safari experiences. There is a bar and lounge area, a shop selling locally-made products, and a spacious dining area that serves different but basic meals, both international (vegetarians and non-vegetarians) and Kenyan.
Activities in Lenchada Tourist Camp include morning and afternoon game drives, bird watching, hot air balloon safaris, watching the Great Wildebeest Migration between June and November each year, bush dinners, guided bush walks, bush breakfasts, hiking in the Loita Hills, Horseback safaris, visiting private conservancies, visiting the Mara River, and Maasai village visits.
